Abstract
This paper presents the emergence and development of the discipline of project management, as well as an overview of various methodologies and approaches used in this field. It covers traditional methods, agile methodologies, adaptive approaches, and other project management models. Special attention is given to the Project Cycle Management (PCM) methodology, which is widely used in projects funded by the European Union. The advantages and disadvantages of different methodologies are analyzed, emphasizing the importance of selecting an appropriate methodology for each specific project. It is concluded that every project is unique and requires an individual approach. There is no universal methodology that would be suitable for all types of projects, and therefore, continuous development of new methodologies and improvement of existing ones in the field of project management is necessary.
